Rediscover Old Road Ride - Jan 25th ~ 27th, 2008

Day 1 --> KL - Gombak - Bentong - Temerloh / Maran - Seri Jaya - Kg Belimbing - Pekan - Nenasi

Day 2 --> Nenasi - Rompin - Mersing - Kluang

Day 3 --> Kluang - Yong Peng - Labis - Segamat - Gemas - Tampin

Nowadays, people almost forget about old roads. Back in the old times, this old roads very important before highways (as in Malaysia PLUS Highway) to connect small cities to others.

Feel the fun to be in ride through old roads, from the start point till the finish line. The ride went through villages, forests, farms on the right and left, a bit of twisty road, no highways please!


Some infos about the routes...

Bentong is both a town and a district in Pahang, Malaysia. The district covers an area of 1,831 km². It is located northeast of Kuala Lumpur, just across the main range, Titiwangsa Mountains. The original main street going into Bentong town has been modified to a dual carriageway. However, the part of the road which leads to Raub and Kuala Lipis had been upgraded.

Temerloh is a town in Central Pahang, Malaysia in Temerloh district. It is the second largest town in Pahang after Kuantan. Temerloh is 163 ft above sea level and lies at latitude of 3 27 North and longitude of 102 26 East. It is situated at the junction of the Pahang River and the Semantan River, and for this reason is also called Kuala Semantan. Kuala is the Malay word for river confluence. Temerloh was a famous port in ancient times because its strategic location between two rivers.

Pekan is the royal town of Pahang, Malaysia. It is situated 45 km south of the current state capital of Kuantan, near the coast of South China Sea and on the southern bank of Pahang River. The royal town of Pekan get its name from a flower called Bunga Pekan. Pekan is also the name of the district the town in situated in and a parliamentary constituency in its own right. It is the home of the state's royal family headed by Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Abu Bakar Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mu'adzam Shah. It is also the hometown of the second Prime Minister of Malaysia Tun Abdul Razak Hussein and the current deputy prime minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak. Najib is also Pekan's current Member of Parliament.

Nenasi is a small town in Pahang, Malaysia. It is located in Pekan district, midway between Kuala Rompin and Pekan town. Nenasi is a wonderful area for camping and beach activities. Not the town itself which is only home to a fishing community, but the outskirts. There are wonderful swamps, ancient rice fields, rivers and tiny kampongs to explore, lots of walking trails. The beach is long, usually very shaded (except in Nenasi town itself) and just a great place to fish, barbecue, camp, swim and do nothing. From the main road - before or after the town - you need to drive/walk towards the beach and pass a low water ditch before getting to the beach itself.

Rompin is a small fishing village and township on the southern end of Pahang, Malaysia. It is located within the district of Rompin. The Rompin River flows through the town. The Endau Rompin National Park is partly situated within the Rompin district.

Mersing is the name of a town and district in the northeast corner in the state of Johor, Malaysia. It is a lively tourist town visited by Malaysians and foreign tourists who come to enjoy the quiet life, great seafood, unspoilt beaches and exotic flora and fauna of the East Coast of mainland West Malaysia.

Kluang is a town and district located roughly in the middle of the state of Johor in Malaysia. Kluang lies about 110km north of Johor Bahru, east-southeast of Batu Pahat, west of Mersing and south of Segamat. The population of Kluang district now exceeds 250,000 residents and the town itself has over 140,000 residents.

Yong Peng
is a town located in the southern of Johor state, Malaysia. It has an area of 1911.6 hectares with an estimated population of 29,046. Yong Peng has two main interchanges on North-South Expressway including north to Kuala Lumpur and south to Johor Bahru.

The local residents are mainly of Chinese origin migrated from the southern China in the 1900s. There is also a small number of Malay and Indian population residing in the outer area of Yong Peng. The main language is Mandarin with Johor accent. Majority of the people work as rubber tappers or farmers.

Labis is the second largest town in the district of Segamat, Johor, Malaysia, with a population of about 20,000 people. It has a large Chinese community. Labis is an agricultural town whose main export is rubber. A main trunk road that runs north-south Peninsular Malaysia passes through it, as well as the Keretapi Tanah Melayu railway line that connects it with the state's capital in the south, Johor Bahru.

Segamat is a town and district located in the north of the state of Johor in Malaysia, bordering two other states of Malaysia (Negeri Sembilan on the west and Pahang on the north). It is located roughly 172 kilometres from Johor Bahru, the capital city of Johor State. It is 95 km travel distance via North-South Expressway from Johor Bahru to Yong Peng. It is another 77 km via Federal Route 1.

Gemas is a small town in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, just near the Negeri Sembilan-Johor state border. The town is located approximately 165 km from the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. It is the meeting place of Malaysian west and east coast rail lines operated by Malayan Railways. For this reason, Gemas is comparatively busy for a town of its size. Gemas railways station was erected in 1922 and is still in operation today.

Tampin is both a town and a district in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, however part of the town now spills over into the neighbouring state of Malacca, as it is located along the Malacca-Negeri Sembilan border. The district itself covers 129.49 square kilometres.
